Manuscript Evaluation - Many
times authors have more detailed questions that he/she would like to have feedback
on, regarding their manuscript. We have
the Manuscript EVALUATION to address those needs.
If the author wants specific feedback on character development, plot points within
their storyline, or he/she simply wants to know what works and what needs more attention,
the Manuscript Evaluation may be the service for you.
How does the manuscript evaluation
work? The author submits to us a list of questions that he/she wants answered.
The editor will then read the entire manuscript and answer each question, and give
you that specific feedback you have been looking for. We will give you suggestions
on how to improve the manuscript regarding the points that concern you. In addition,
the editor will give you other helpful hints on other points she
finds during her reviewing
of your work that might cause a problem while sitting in front of the submission editor
of a publisher or questions that might arise in the reader’s mind.
The Manuscript
Evaluation Service is a powerful tool to guide the author in the right direction
without paying for a Full Editing of your work.

We
use the following Editing Styles:
Traditional Editing Style:
The
highlighting feature found in Microsoft Word® is utilized in the Traditional Editing
Style. This feature clearly and visually distinguishes errors and suggestions. Clients
primarily use this editing style to learn from their mistakes and minimize grammatical
errors in the future.
Executive Editing Style:
The
'Track Changes' function in Microsoft Word® is used when the Executive Editing Style
is selected. This built-in feature of Microsoft Word® allows users to toggle between
editor suggestions, and it allows the user to accept all changes with one click.
Hardcopy
If
you prefer, we can use the “red pen” method to mark up your hardcopy. With this method,
we will write all changes and suggestions directly on your manuscript with a red pen
so that you can spot the edits more easily. You can mail your completed manuscript
to:

and adequate postage to return the manuscript.
New
Author Introductory Package
We
understand that many authors are on a fixed budget and need to keep their costs down.
Yet, with the ever-increasing competitive nature of the publishing world, ensuring
that your manuscript receives more than a cursory glance by the submission editors
has become more important. One of the things that editors look at is whether the manuscript
is grammatically clean. Does the narrative read easily, are their punctuation problems
that present themselves early on in the manuscript? Are the sentences structured to
affect the reader and delivered with strong, active verbs, or is the author’s writing
style more tentative?
The NEW
AUTHOR INTRODUCTORY PACKAGE allows new authors the opportunity
to see whether their work is close to being ready for the publisher’s submission editor
to scrutinize your manuscript. As the name of the package implies, this editing service
is an introduction to how editing might benefit you toward reaching your goal of publishing
your work.
What
the author can expect from the New
Author Introductory Package:
1)
A comprehensive edit of an initial portion of your manuscript – the first
20 pages of your novel (enough to plan for the rest of the manuscript).
2) A
constructive commentary and review of your story concerning style and substance, storyline,
character development, continuity and more.
3) Once
the author finishes his or her rewrite they may resubmit it for the editor to review
the changes to ascertain if they effectively answered the questions posed during the
editing service or if the same problems persist or new problem arose during the rewrite
of those 20 pages.
We
designed The New Author Introductory Package to enable you to gain a quick understanding
of the editing process and to determine if you wish to go further. You can then decide
whether you need more work with the editor, or if you can implement the changes without
any further assistance. Our fee for the New Author Introductory Package is $125.
